The taste of Lebanon is available at Byblos in Karlsruhe's Passagehof
Shawarma, falafel and much more have been available at the Lebanese restaurant Byblos in Karlsruhe since August 2024
Together with his mother Yola, restaurant manager Rami made the whole family's dream come true at the end of August 2024 and opened the Lebanese restaurant Byblos in Karlsruhe's Passagehof - directly opposite the Greek restaurant Omonia. "It is important to us to bring the flavors and aromas from our homeland to Karlsruhe in an authentic way. Our concept is special here in Karlsruhe and we look forward to spoiling the people of Karlsruhe with our Lebanese cuisine from now on," says Rami.
Shawarma fresh from the grill at Byblos in Karlsruhe's Passagehof
Unlike usual, the Arabic meat dish shawarma at Byblos does not come from the spit, but fresh from the grill - just like all the other meat dishes. "This simply conjures up a much more intense taste," reveals Rami. You can also choose whether the dishes are served in a sandwich or as a platter. "We focus on quality, taste and freshness. We prepare as much as possible fresh and homemade every day," says the restaurant manager. "The dishes are original, just as my mother cooked them in Lebanon," he enthuses. And you can taste it! From half a chicken on the Beirut special plate to delicious falafel or shawarma made from veal or chicken - all the dishes at Byblos bring the traditional flavors of Lebanon to the plates of Karlsruhe's locals.
There is a variety of the finest side dishes to match, such as:
- Batata Harra, a Lebanese potato dish
- Tabouleh, a parsley couscous or bulgur salad
- Hummus
- Flatbread
Guests who focus on vegetarian and vegan dishes will definitely get their money's worth here!
Hospitality and a cozy outdoor area in the heart of the city center

The indoor area at Byblos offers cozy seating, you can also take all dishes to go or eat them in the quiet outdoor area and relax in the middle of the Passagehof. In the future, it will also be possible to have the dishes delivered. "But that will still take a while - at the moment we only have the restaurant business," says Rami.
