Germany's most digital tourist information center - a world of experience in the heart of the city

The Karlsruhe Showcase has been open since November 26, 2019 and welcomes tourists and Karlsruhe residents alike. It has created a place to experience Karlsruhe and not just provide information about the city's attractions and events. KTG Karlsruhe Tourismus GmbH and Stadtwerke Karlsruhe invite you to be inspired by the city. The Karlsruhe Showcase will itself become a venue for receptions, information days, readings and much more. In the 280 square meter space, a visit to one of the most modern tourist information offices in Germany becomes a digital experience.

Customer Journey

Interactive guidance system

A guidance system leads visitors through the interactive tour, where each visitor can individually select their interests and data for their own microsite. There will be a total of five stations where, thanks to QR code technology, the personal selection will be saved on a card, 100% anonymously of course. By scanning the code with their cell phone, visitors can access their own Karlsruhe homepage and conveniently take their information with them.

Of course, personal advice will also play a central role and so the employees of the Karlsruhe Tourist Information Office and Stadtwerke form the heart of the shop window.

  • The customer journey can begin immediately after the visitor has picked up a free card with a QR code. The first station is the interactive table. Here the guest sees an animated interface that explains how the guidance system works and how to save the desired information. By making an initial selection, guests can indicate which areas they are interested in and would like to find out more about. This is then saved on the QR card. But don't worry, it's no problem to change these criteria again at a later stage. The table also provides initial inspiration in the form of images.

  • The next station is the Digital Marketplace with the CI Wall. The first step is for visitors to scan their QR card. A total of three different screens are available, which can be used independently of each other. Various content is displayed here according to the previous selection. The points about which more information is required can be selected via touchscreen. Guests can decide whether they want to save the content they have viewed for their future Schaufenster-Karlsruhe page.
    If visitors notice that they are missing something at this point, they can reset the filters and make a new selection. In addition, offers matching the selection are now also displayed and the "buy" function can be triggered.

    Visitors will find the tourist information counter right next to the CI wall. The staff are happy to help at any time. At the end of the customer journey, guests can also have their map scanned by the staff. Here it is possible for staff to pin additional directions to the guest's side, add notes or purchase the various offers that the guest has selected. Stadtwerke will also be present on site and will be happy to assist its customers and interested parties.

  • The Schaufenster Karlsruhe has also thought of the youngest visitors. There is an interactive table in the Kids Corner where children can play. The children can enjoy a memory game with great motifs while their older companions embark on the impressive customer journey.
