The volunteer program
of the city of Karlsruhe
Volunteers, we know them from the Olympics and soccer World Cups. They provide information about the program, show the way and look after active participants - they give events a face, even in Karlsruhe! The volunteer program of the City of Karlsruhe is unique in Germany in terms of its character and sustainability.
Since 2015, Karlsruhe volunteers have been part of the city's image and are part of its events, whether at DAS FESTthe SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE Light Festival or the INIT Indoor Meeting Karlsruhe.
I am a volunteer because it opens up the world to me.

Register at www.karlsruhe-volunteer.de in the volunteer database and complete your profile. Once you have completed your registration (profile status 100%), you will be invited to a training course. Please note that for organizational reasons there are a maximum of two training dates per year. During this training, you will get to know the KME and KTG volunteer management staff and receive detailed information about the volunteer program and upcoming volunteer opportunities. As a new volunteer, you will also have access to a pool of experienced volunteer mentors who will be available to you as contact persons during your first few months as a volunteer. At the end of the training, you will receive the official volunteer equipment and sign the volunteer agreement - then you are an official volunteer of the City of Karlsruhe and can apply for assignments via the database from then on. Subsequent communication with the volunteer management takes place via the database or via e-mail and, in urgent/emergency cases, by telephone or text message. To register as a volunteer, you must be at least 18 years old and have at least B1 level German.

First and foremost, municipal offices and subsidiaries, cultural institutions, universities and colleges from Karlsruhe can use volunteers for their events. The final decision on whether registered events or tasks are permitted is made by the KME/KTG volunteer management on a situational basis.
Further information on the use of volunteers and what organizers need to bear in mind can be found here.
