Barefoot shoes at Freifuß - new in Karlsruhe city center

Natural walking and healthy feet - this is the motto and goal of the Freiburg shoe store Freifuß, which has also been located in Ettlinger Tor in Karlsruhe city center since September 14, 2024. From ballerinas and sneakers to outdoor footwear and walking shoes for the very youngest, this new store allows Karlsruhe residents to experience how comfortable and stylish sustainable barefoot shoes are. 

A wide range of barefoot shoes at Freifuß in Karlsruhe

"We took over the location in Freiburg in November 2023 and knew that we wanted to open a second store soon. When we found the location here in Karlsruhe, it quickly became clear that the second Freifuß store would open here," says owner Viviane Götzen. The Freifuß range consists of so-called barefoot shoes, which are characterized by their thin soles and a wide toe box. In addition, the barefoot shoes have no footbed and no heel elevation, which promotes the natural movement of the foot when walking. "At first, it can be unusual for the foot to have to work "so much" again, but that's exactly the point of barefoot shoes, to guide the foot back into its natural movements," explains Viviane.

Durability, sustainability and quality - these are the hallmarks of the Freifuss range

High quality is important to us when selecting our brands, and I pay particular attention to durability when it comes to children's shoes," says Viviane. In addition to high quality, the sustainability concept of the brands is important to Freifuß. "In addition to extremely durable shoes, we want to sell brands at Freifuss that are produced fairly and work with sustainable materials," explains the owner.

The large selection of shoes on the shelves at Freifuss shows that barefoot shoes can be comfortable and stylish at the same time. Casual sneakers for men and women, winter boots, outdoor hiking shoes, running shoes, ballerinas and sandals. "Of course, our range is always adapted to the respective season and if a shoe is not available here in Karlsruhe, we can always order it from Freiburg. We will also be opening an online store in November this year," reveals the owner.

Advice is the top priority at Freifuss. Special attention is paid to children. "Extensive advice and measuring the child's foot is particularly important when it comes to children's walking shoes," explains Viviane. Important for all parents: many of the children's shoes at Freifuss have a raised toe cap, which makes the shoe very durable. So nothing stands in the way of romping, climbing or bobby car rides!
