Fall is tea time in Karlsruhe
Once again this year, the stores in Karlsruhe city center cater to every tea taste
Rainy afternoons, collecting chestnuts, flying kites, carving pumpkins: Autumn is here. With the new month of October, tea time officially returns to the four walls of many Karlsruhe households. Some like spiced teas, others like herbal teas best, while for others a strong black tea in the morning is part of their everyday ritual.
In this cold and wet season, tea is definitely an integral part of many stores in Karlsruhe city center. On the one hand, it is an integral part of Karlsruhe's café scene, and on the other, you can also take home everything you need for this popular hot drink: the right crockery, utensils for a successful tea ceremony and, of course, the tea itself. This is available loose for filling and preparing in a tea infuser or compactly packed in a classic tea bag.
Matcha tea as a trend drink in Karlsruhe - also in 2024
Since 1886 the teahouse Wilkendorf in the heart of Karlsruhe's city center has been the address for all tea lovers from Karlsruhe and far beyond the city limits. In addition to numerous types of tea, the traditional store at Waldstraße 22 also stocks cups and pots in all shapes and sizes, as well as accessories for perfect preparation or even a proper tea ceremony. "Matcha is currently very trendy and popular. The special thing about it is that you drink the ground leaf. Unlike other teas, this is also kept in the fridge. The tea is then whisked in an M-shape in the so-called matcha bowl," reveals Birgit Wilkendorf. Instant chai is also a popular hot drink in the fall. Thanks to the aromatic spices in chai tea and the fact that it can be quickly and easily infused with hot water or hot milk, this drink is perfect for the cold season.
