In September 2023, the city of Karlsruhe successfully established neighborhood management in the districts of Market Square, Central Kaiserstrasse, Östliche Kaiserstraße and in the entire district of Erbprinzenstrasse/Herrenstrasse and Mittlere Waldstrasse have been established. Over the next two years, these dedicated caretakers will help to strengthen the districts, better network the stakeholders and promote the development of the neighborhoods.

Joint development of inner city districts

Since the start of the neighborhood management's work, an increasing dynamic has developed among the various stakeholder groups. Over 25 applications from citizens, associations and businesses have been approved within the available neighborhood budget and most of them have already been implemented. The measures range from a variety of events and the upgrading of public streets and squares to measures aimed at creating a Christmassy atmosphere in the neighborhoods. Lord Mayor Dr. Frank Mentrup is delighted with the high level of commitment shown by the new neighbourhood management team and emphasizes that the motivation to move the city centre forward together is higher than ever before.

Regular neighborhood conferences are a central component of neighborhood management. These offer neighborhood stakeholders the opportunity to discuss current developments in their district, develop measures together, network or form topic-specific action groups. Since the introduction of neighborhood management, at least one neighborhood conference has been successfully held in all neighborhoods.

Specialist and pleasure quarter - The quarter

The first neighborhood conference in the neighborhood Erbprinzen-/Herren- and Mittlere Waldstraßethe largest neighborhood in terms of area, took place on October 24, 2023. Over 80 participants learned about the possibilities of the urban project "City Transformation". An inspiring presentation by Raimund Löhr on cooperation within the IG Südliche Waldstraße e. V. association provided a best practice example of a functioning neighborhood community. The streets that are less close to the city center in particular are planning to network even more closely in the future and create overarching offers in order to further increase their visibility among visitors to the city center.

The open exchange between owners and entrepreneurs yielded exciting results and created fertile ground for potential real estate developments.
