Goldsmiths Cifci in Karlsruhe - craftsmanship with tradition

The family-run company opened its doors for the first time back in 1992, when it was still based in Aachen. Since the beginning of the family tradition, the Cifci family has focused on the pure craft of goldsmithing, now in its second generation.

Even as a child, it was something special for his son Serhat Cifci to discover his father's toolbox and create things himself. In 2005, he realized his dream of having his own studio and has been based in Waldstraße in Karlsruhe for 16 years. Eight years later, his sister Esra joined him in the family business: "We are very proud to be a family business and will always keep it that way," says the owner.

"In my parents' jewelry store, I learned the various tricks of the trade, the technical requirements and, above all, the special needs of customers, even back then as a schoolboy. Even back then, it was a big dream of mine to have my own workshop," says Serhat Cifci. The special thing for him is being able to constantly develop and come into contact with new techniques and materials. For example, Cifci taught himself the mokume-gane technique - which means wood grain in metal. This technique creates a unique, seamless and individual grain on pieces of jewelry: "This is a popular technique for wedding rings in particular, as the rings are truly unique and cannot be made a second time," explains Serhat Cifci.
