Enjoying coffee for 15 years: espresso stazione
Bella Italia in 20 square meters in Karlsruhe
Bella Italia, right here in Karlsruhe. Launched in 2003, Gerald Hammer's small and exquisite espresso stazione coffee bar has been the meeting place for anyone who wants to enjoy a slice of la dolce vita in the fan-shaped city for 15 years now. In just 20 square meters, the owner has managed to spoil visitors with plenty of charm and numerous delicacies: macchiato, mocha, latte, cortado, and much more.

Gerald Hammer also has something for those who don't drink coffee, offering a range of organic teas and fine drinking chocolates.
The hot and cold drinks are complemented by a delicious selection of sweet and savory delicacies, such as freshly made tramezzini or panini. Thursdays are lasagna days at espresso stazione, with both Bolognese and vegetarian options available.
But what makes espresso stazione so special is undoubtedly its atmosphere. "It's wonderful to see how different and complete strangers strike up conversations," says the owner. Over the years, he has seen many connections and relationships develop that originated at his counter.
Organic coffee and green electricity at espresso stazione in Karlsruhe
As one of the first café bars in Karlsruhe, espresso stazione has switched completely to organic coffee and green electricity and has been working with coffee from its own roastery since 2009. Espresso Tostino is the name of both its own coffee/espresso and the roastery in the Old Slaughterhouse, where small batches of espresso and coffee are gently slow-roasted in an old hall. Espresso Tostino can be purchased both at espresso stazione and at the Füllhorn organic market in downtown Karlsruhe.
Espresso Stazione is also mobile and conjures up delicious coffee moments with its "Espresso Mobile" – for example, almost every Saturday at the weekly market on Gutenbergplatz in the western part of town: espresso is brewed there using old lever technology and a lot of charm. "This mobile coffee bar is also available for rent," reveals the owner.

Art and culture are also on display at espresso stazione: simply drop by and enjoy a cup of coffee while discovering new works of art every month, striking up conversations with friendly people, or simply relaxing in an Italian atmosphere.
