Karlsruhe is known as a city in the warmest region of Germany. But the weather can get gray and uncomfortable in the fall.

Summer in Karlsruhe has a lot to offer. But now the days are getting shorter, temperatures are dropping and people are too often tempted by the warm and cozy sofa. However, if you want to escape the autumn doldrums, you should also venture outside on colder days, because Karlsruhe also has many activities to offer that you can pursue in colder weather.

Indoor fun

If you fancy a special indoor experience, 3D mini golf is just the thing for you. Unlike normal minigolf, 3D minigolf is played with 3D glasses and neon clubs. The courses also have different themes, such as an underwater world, jungle or outer space. For every minigolf fan, 3D minigolf is a must-do experience. In addition to 3D mini golf, there is also the opportunity to compete with friends in laser tag or climbing in Karlsruhe.

The latest leisure activity in Karlsruhe is the Boulderwelt Karlsruhe at Europaplatz in the heart of Karlsruhe city center. The special thing about this sport is that it is a type of climbing that involves bouldering without a harness or rope, at a safe jump height and along tricky paths. Boulderwelt offers various levels of difficulty for both beginners and experts and a special bouldering area for children. If you haven't tried this sport yet, you should definitely do so during a visit to Karlsruhe!

Escape Room

Imagine being locked in a room and having no idea how to get out of it. At first it sounds like a scene from a horror movie, but it's actually a lot of fun for your next get-together with friends, family or a team event. Escape rooms, which originally come from Japan and are inspired by computer games, offer just such adventures. Within a given time, you have to try to decipher the hidden clues in the room and find your way to freedom! In Karlsruhe, you even have quite a large selection, as there are several escape rooms in Karlsruhe!

Swimming pools

You can unwind in one of the many spas in Karlsruhe. We particularly recommend the thermal baths in Karlsruhe, which offer you the opportunity to really relax and warm up from the cold weather. Of course, Karlsruhe not only has wellness pools, but also adventure pools for the whole family, such as the Europabad. With Kai der Hai, the many slides, the white water channel and saunas, the Europabad has everything you need to have fun and relax.

Shopping in Karlsruhe

Especially on cloudy days, it's worth taking advantage of the shopping opportunities here on site. The Ettlinger Tor and the Postgalerie invite you to explore and store at your leisure. The many dining options round off a longer stay with pleasure, so that you can continue your bargain hunting well fortified.

Cultural diversity

Karlsruhe also offers a wide range of cultural activities for every taste! Media art, works of art history, exhibitions on natural history or the cultural history of Baden and cultures of the world - there is a lot to discover in Karlsruhe! The ZKM, the Natural History Museum and the Baden State Museum are just a few of the museums worth a visit. For the perfect start to your weekend trip to Karlsruhe, the cultural institutions have a special offer: every Friday from 2 pm, admission to the participating museums is free.

If you are looking for more action and drama, Karlsruhe's theaters have a lot to offer! From the Badisch Bühn with regional dialect, puppet shows at the Marotte-Figurentheater, musicals, comedies and more at the Kammertheater or modern drama at the Sandkorn, to the multi-genre theater, the Badisches Staatstheater, which offers opera, concerts, ballet and drama.

Cinemas in Karlsruhe

Another option is to visit one of the cinemas in Karlsruhe and enjoy an exciting movie with a cup of popcorn. At the Filmpalast am ZKM, you can experience everything up close and personal with incredible sound in the IMAX. Alternatively, in Karlsruhe's oldest cinema - the Schauburg - you can watch many alternative films in addition to the current program.

The exotic house

Another good way to warm up again is to visit the exotic animal house in the Zoological City Garden. The tropical temperatures invite you to linger in the cold and there is a lot to see: Almost 2000 animals from a total of 100 different species live in the former Tullabad, which was rebuilt from 2012 to 2015. It's well worth a visit!

Coffee time-out

The many Karlsruhe cafés invite you to spend a relaxing afternoon with friends, especially in wet weather. In addition to Pâtisserie Ludwig, Café Palaver or Café Wohnzimmer, Karlsruhe offers a variety of cafés with their unique coffee specialties, homemade cakes, chocolates, tartlets and many other sweet temptations.

As you can see, Karlsruhe has a lot to offer for all kinds of activities, even during the cold season.
