Experience Karlsruhe in 24 hours: Visit the most important sights, get to know the typical flair of the city and make one or two culinary discoveries. The good thing about Karlsruhe: most of the sights are within easy walking distance, so you can explore the best places quickly and easily.

Spend the morning in Karlsruhe

If you get up early in the morning, you should definitely visit the weekly markets in Karlsruhe. One of the most popular weekly markets is the market on Gutenbergplatz, which has been unfolding its full charm for over 100 years, especially on Saturdays. One of the most beautiful places in Karlsruhe for food lovers and gourmets!

If you are more of a sporty type, you should take a trip to Karlsruhe Palace. From the 42m high castle tower, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Karlsruhe's famous fan-shaped layout. During the subsequent tour of the Baden State Museum, you can marvel at pieces of Baden's history as well as the world-famous "Turkish loot" from the 17th century.

The Botanical Garden is located right next to Karlsruhe Palace - an absolute must-see along the way: with a variety of exotic tree species from different continents, show houses with cacti and tropical plants, it is a popular green oasis in the middle of the city. It is particularly enjoyable with a cup of coffee on the outdoor seating area in the former margravial conservatory.

Enjoy exploring the city at lunchtime

If you are looking for a good place to eat after exploring the palace and botanical gardens, you don't have far to go. From Schlossplatz, it's just a few steps to Karlsruhe's market square in the heart of the city center. From here, many culinary hotspots are just a few minutes away: Regional cuisine at Schwarze Kater, Marktlücke and Alte Bank; Mediterranean delights at L'Incontro, Tasca do Jose and Toro Tapasbar, Asian cuisine at Soki Garden, Mai Garden, Min Ramen Bar and Yangda or oriental delights at La Rose, Rote Bete and Kebabi. Karlsruhe's restaurants have the right dish for every taste.

If you still feel like exploring Karlsruhe city center, you can take a leisurely stroll through the Karlsruhe stores. Whether ETTLINGER TOR Center, POSTGALERIE or Baden's longest shopping mile, Kaiserstraße - Karlsruhe offers everything a shopper's heart desires. But don't forget to take a look at the side streets as well. Many owner-managed stores and galleries offer unusual fashion, accessories and works of art.

A cozy end to the evening

For the perfect end to your day in Karlsruhe, Ludwigsplatz, one of the most popular squares in the western part of the city center, is the perfect place to relax. Numerous restaurants, bars and cafés invite you to linger here after an extensive shopping spree or for an after-work cocktail to end the day in a relaxed manner. For a special experience, we also recommend a visit to Karlsruhe's Hirschhof, which offers everything from the steak restaurant Dom in the former anthroposophical church, to classic Neapolitan pizza at '87 Mamma Lina by Gina's Pizza Bar and unique drink creations in the stylish cocktail bar Guts & Glory for a unique, stylish and modern evening.
