The areas of the Stadtgarten are just as large and just as interesting, consisting of many different themed gardens, such as the Rose Garden, the Japanese Garden, the Baden-Baden Garden or the Fragrance and Touch Garden.
There are unique plants and beautiful grounds to discover in the gardens of the Karlsruhe Stadtgarten - it's well worth a visit! From exotic plants and fragrant flowers to the queen of flowers in the rose garden, plant lovers will find everything their heart desires here.
The Japanese garden
The Japanese Garden has been part of the Karlsruhe City Garden since 1913/14 and represents a miniature landscape from the mountains to the sea. The newer part, "Kare Sansui", represents a greatly reduced seascape with interesting and meaningful stone settings that are intended to replicate rock formations.
The rose garden
The origins of the rose garden date back to the 19th century. In 1915, the area was significantly enlarged and around 11,500 roses of around 70 varieties are now planted here. With its strict architectural form with wooden trellises, round arches and seating areas, it is a popular attraction and resting place for visitors. Every year in June, the horticultural office also offers a rose tour on a Sunday morning from 10.30 a.m., where participants can learn all kinds of interesting facts about the "queen of flowers" and how to look after them properly.
The Baden-Baden garden
The Baden-Baden garden, which was originally a contribution by the city of Baden-Baden to the State Garden Show, consists of three different levels separated by concrete elements. The individual terraces, decorated with flowerbeds, invite visitors to sit and enjoy themselves on warm summer days. The water cascade and a water staircase made of glass elements that encircles the garden emphasize the importance of the healing springs for the spa town of Baden-Baden.
The scent and touch garden
Another popular attraction is the scent and touch garden. The garden is suitable for young and old, everyone can smell plants here or feel those with particularly rough leaves. The garden is also very suitable for wheelchair users, as the plants are easy to reach from a seated position and there is enough space between the beds to get through.
In addition to the gardens mentioned here, there are other smaller gardens whose beauty is definitely worth exploring!
