Neighborhood conferences
Marktplatz and "Das Viertel" encourage participation
Marketplace Carré quarter & Erbprinzen-/Herren- & Mittlere Waldstraße
Since September 2023, the city of Karlsruhe has been relying on comprehensive neighborhood management in the city center as part of the "City Transformation" project. Until August 2025, the district managers will help to strengthen the districts, better network the stakeholders and promote the development of the districts.
Since the neighborhood management teams were activated, at least one conference has been successfully held in each neighborhood. The first neighborhood conferences of the year were recently held in the "Das Viertel" neighborhood (Erbprinzen-/Herren- und Mittlere Waldstraße) and in the "Marktplatz Carré" neighborhood.
"The Quarter" presents itself at the 2024 Festival of the Senses
In the "Erbprinzen-/Herren- und Mittlere Waldstraße" district, also known as "Das Viertel", the long-term aim is to establish itself as a leisure and specialist district. At the first conference in 2024, district manager Lennart Schleifer focused on a constructive workshop atmosphere. The participants developed activities for this year's Festival of the Senses, including musical supporting programs and spring decorations. The ideas will now be submitted to the "City Transformation" project team in the form of a budget plan and application.
New association for the heart of the city center - Marktplatz Carré
The neighborhood conference of the Marktplatzquartier started with a review of successfully implemented projects in the past year. These included, for example, the Christmas lounge in Lammstraße with benches, decorations and street art, which showed the potential of this district as soon as the local tradespeople pull together.
Other topics included current challenges such as construction sites, cleanliness and vacancies. Under the motto "Don't bury your head in the sand!", the participants discussed possible further neighborhood projects. Ideas for a regular revitalization of the market square, greater involvement of cultural institutions and the organization of expert workshops on the topic of "mobile shading and greening elements" were presented.
The neighborhood also reached another major milestone with its recent decision to found an association. The merger into an association is a further step towards active and sustainable cooperation within the neighborhood.
Interested cooperation partners, owners or supporters can contact the respective neighborhood management teams at any time. Further information on the "City-Transformation" project and the neighborhood management teams can be found at www.karlsruhe.de/city-transformation .
