Waffle factory: The waffle interpreted individually

They're fluffy, they're delicious, and you can top or fill them with whatever your heart desires—fruit, Smarties, mini marshmallows, ice cream, chocolate, or cookies—the waffles from the newly opened Waffelwerk at Bürgerstraße 7G are new to downtown Karlsruhe. Waffle fever has been raging in North Rhine-Westphalia, Berlin, and Hamburg for some time now. Now it's spreading to the fan-shaped city.

Originating in Hong Kong and popular in the Big Apple, bubble waffles are loved for their crispy shell and soft center. Rolled up, packed in a bag, and filled, they are soul food in a class of their own.

Whether as a bubble waffle in a bag or in the classic heart shape—freshly prepared, guests can choose their favorite combination right at the counter. There are eight different toppings, nuts, and delicious ice cream flavors to choose from. Lovingly decorated, these waffles are a real treat. 

After the opening, hearty waffles with turkey or tuna are also planned for lunch. Of course, all waffles at Waffelwerk are available in vegan and gluten-free versions. Delicious coffee specialties, homemade lemonade and iced tea, as well as healthy smoothies, are also part of the Waffeltempel's range.

And if you want to have your photo taken with your own colorful waffle, there's the in-house selfie point, which, with its colorful graffiti, puts every waffle picture in the right light.

You can take the waffles with you or enjoy them on the spot, either indoors or outdoors, in the two-story waffle factory.

It's definitely worth a visit—but it can happen that you've already destroyed the masterpieces before you've photographed the little works of art. But that's what second helpings are for, right?
