Sustainability is a top priority at Goldig: "Children's clothing is only worn for a very short time - sometimes only once or twice - and is often still in perfect condition when the children have grown out of it," explains owner Nina Hadem. As a mother of two small children, she quickly came up with the idea of opening her own second-hand store in Karlsruhe. "I always went to Tübingen because there wasn't yet a concept that suited me here in Karlsruhe," she explains. "The premises here at Markgrafenstraße 38, on Lidellplatz in Karlsruhe, were a real stroke of luck," enthuses Nina. The name "Goldig" was quickly decided on, based on the gilding shop that previously had its address here.

Goldig - lovingly selected and well-preserved second-hand clothing and more in Karlsruhe

When you enter the store, you get the impression of visiting a boutique for children's clothing and accessories: tastefully draped toys and books, a shelf full of children's shoes - adapted to the season, of course -, baby bodysuits in different sizes and colors and a large selection of clothing, including for schoolchildren, can be found at Goldig. "I choose the items very carefully: They have to be in good to very good condition and, of course, clean," explains Nina. You can then shop to your heart's content at fair prices at Goldig. As space is limited in the store in Markgrafenstraße, there is a pinboard on site. The idea behind it: "There is a pinboard with pictures for large items such as baby carriages, running bikes or highchairs. These products are then also offered for sale, they just don't have room to be displayed in the store," says the owner.

Sell used children's clothes at Goldig on Lidellplatz in Karlsruhe

Many people in Karlsruhe don't know what to do with their children's toys and clothes. Flea markets and online sales platforms are often time-consuming or impersonal - that's where Goldig
comes in! If you want to give children's things a second life, you can hand them in to Nina on a consignment basis. The process is as follows:

  • Pack clean things at home
  • Make an appointment on site at +49 17672496727 or by e-mail to info.goldig@web.de
  • Bring the things over
  • The clothing is inspected and entered into the system
  • Each seller will then receive a list of the items
    and the corresponding prices
  • In the event of a sale, 40% of the sales price is paid to the seller

"We don't accept underwear and socks only on a donation basis," explains the owner. "At the moment, of course, fall/winter items are in demand, as well as footmuffs for baby carriages and maternity wear," Nina reveals.
