La Mexicana - New in Karlsruhe city center

After three years of planning, La Mexicana celebrated its grand opening on February 28, 2025, bringing a piece of Mexico to the fan-shaped city with authentic, delicious cuisine. Here, Karlsruhe residents can enjoy a little break from everyday life and experience the soul of Mexico.

Sonia Meiswinkel, the owner of La Mexicana Taqueria and Bar, is proud of the reopening of her restaurant at Bürgerstraße 10 - and rightly so, because what she and her team have created here is impressive: walls adorned with creative paintings by artist Annel Lilly, Mexican sounds that fill the room and the culinary skills of Don Raymundo, which will make your taste buds beat faster. "Everything here is homemade and, above all, traditionally prepared, just as we would do in our home country of Mexico," explains Sonia. She focuses on fresh and high-quality food. "Our tacos in particular are a real highlight here at La Mexicana. From the dough to the preparation and enjoyment, the tacos come fresh from our kitchen," says Sonia proudly. If you take a look at the menu, there are no limits to what you can enjoy:

• Guacamole
• Quesadillas
• Choriqueso - melted cheese with sausage
• Orden de Totopos - homemade tortillas
• Delicious salsas

And a little tip: the authentic tacos can be ordered in both meat and veggie versions - simply delicious! All dishes are of course also available to take away for the people of Karlsruhe.

However, with La Mexicana, Sonia has created much more than just a restaurant. She has created a place that brings people together, offers Mexicans in the fan-shaped city a piece of home and at the same time introduces anyone interested to the diversity of Mexican cuisine. "Everyone is welcome here - we are very hospitable and take everyone on a culinary journey to Mexico," is how she describes her taqueria.

Visitors to La Mexicana in Karlsruhe city center can take a short break from everyday life and experience the fire of Mexico. Sonia's restaurant also offers real Mexican drink specialties such as Corona, Victoria Negra, Modelo and Michelada beers. Of course, tequila and margaritas are also on the menu.
