Because Bagel - the new New York bagel restaurant in Karlsruhe

Have you been dreaming of a restaurant in Karlsruhe that offers freshly baked, creative New York bagels for a long time? Then your dream is now coming true! The new opening of Because Bagle at Karlstraße 31 in Karlsruhe has been attracting bagel lovers from all over the region to the fan-shaped city since the end of July 2025, delighting them with fresh and delicious New York bagel variations.

First Greece, then Karlsruhe: handmade bagels are now available at Karlstraße 31

Inspired by the New York bagel brand "Utopia", Because Bagel owner Zack Kallidis quickly realized that he wanted to open a bagel store himself. He first realized his dream in his home town of Thessaloniki in Greece. However, it was clear to the owner more than four years ago that he wanted to open a branch in Germany too. Karlsruhe had always appealed to him as a location and when he saw the premises at Karlstraße 31, the decision was quickly made and the doors of the first Because-Bagel store in Germany finally opened on July 28, 2025. "It's so nice to be here in Karlsruhe and we're looking forward to many wonderful bagel moments with our guests," says owner Zack.

The special thing about Because Bagel is the combination of quality, freshness and variety: the bagel dough is made on site and baked fresh every day. The team also creates many of the sauces themselves and regularly comes up with new bagel combinations, which ensures an incomparable taste experience. And so Karlsruhe locals are now spoiled for choice, because a glance at the menu reveals - the bagel variations are very diverse:

• Classic bagel - with cream cheese, iceberg lettuce and bacon
• Chic bagel - with grilled chicken, fried egg and avocado
• Avocado bagel - with the finest guacamole
• American bacon - with four slices of bacon, two fried eggs and double cheese
• or unusual variations, such as the feta bagel with homemade feta cream, olive paste and tomatoes or the sweet versions with Nutella, peanut butter or hazelnut chocolate cream with honey and cocoa.

"We are always trying to develop further and conjure up new variations," says Zack. The people of Karlsruhe can therefore look forward to many more delicious bagel variations.

The team will be happy to advise you and help you find the perfect combination to suit your taste. They attach great importance to regional and high-quality ingredients in order to offer guests an authentic taste experience. In addition to the cozy atmosphere, hospitality is also very important: "For us, it goes without saying that we offer our guests free water, either with lemon or mint," says employee Christina. Because Bagel also offers guests free Wi-Fi.
