Like spending time with good friends – that's exactly how a visit to the Cilantro Bistro del Arte restaurant at Markgrafenstraße 31, on Lidellplatz in Karlsruhe, feels. Lidellplatz. The restaurant is distinguished by the freshness of its ingredients and the owner's passion for his food.

Small but mighty, Cilantro, owned by Jorge Pinto Sotomayor, is one of the centerpieces of Lidellplatz in the city center. Every morning, the owner buys fresh ingredients and then decides what will be cooked that day. Here, you can forget about time and simply relax and unwind—Jorge makes his guests feel at home and allows them to enjoy a little break from everyday life in peace.

Every visit is a culinary surprise, right in the heart of downtown Karlsruhe.

"Let yourself be surprised!" is Jorge's motto.

Since the menu of the day is always decided on the same day, variety and diversity are guaranteed. At Jorge's, guests will not find a weekly menu, but only freshly prepared dishes.

Lunch is served Wednesday through Friday, and dinner is served Tuesday through Sunday. Despite the spontaneity, all guests will find something to their liking, as the daily menu always includes a vegan option. The interior of Cilantro Bistro del Arte is charming and modern, and the restaurant also serves as an art platform: since 2012, Cilantro has been hosting art exhibitions and various art events, which transform the restaurant into a new setting each time.

International, traditional, and always natural: the cuisine at Cilantro restaurant in Karlsruhe

The cuisine at Jorge's is varied, sophisticated, and brings international flair to the fan-shaped city:

  • Salad with seasonal fruits
  • Ceviche (fish in citrus marinade)
  • Soup with regional vegetables
  • octopus
  • or the Chilean national dish Pastel del Choclo with corn, basil, ground beef, raisins, and olives

are among the dishes conjured up by the owner. The chef deliberately avoids using flavor enhancers and artificial flavorings in the preparation of all dishes.

You also have to try the aperitif "Pisco Sour," Chile's national drink made with pisco (a grape brandy), lime juice, powdered sugar, a little ginger, whipped egg white, and a sprinkling of cinnamon—simply delicious! Would you like a personalized menu à la Jorge? Whether fish or meat, vegetarian or vegan, Jorge conjures up a very special menu for every taste and every occasion.

Immerse yourself in the exclusive world of Jorge Pinto Sotomayor and enjoy a very special stay full of new culinary impressions and warmth in Karlsruhe!
