Further projects planned to improve the quality of stay

Since September 2023, the city of Karlsruhe has been implementing the "City Transformation" project, the city has been relying on comprehensive neighborhood management in the city center. Until August 2025, the district managers will help to strengthen the districts, better network the stakeholders and promote the development of the districts.

Since the activation of the neighborhood management, at least one conference has been successfully held in each neighborhood. Neighborhood conferences were recently held again in the "Central Kaiserstrasse" and "Östliche Kaiserstraße" districts took place again recently.

Neighborhood conference "Östliche Kaiserstraße" on March 7, 2024

With the neighborhood impulse "Kleine Kirche", the neighborhood management of Östliche Kaiserstraße will transform the forecourt of the Kleine Kirche into an inviting place. From the end of April 2024, seating, greenery and regular, low-threshold events will create a new quality of stay in the neighborhood where excavators and construction site equipment are currently still located. For example, recurring "neighborhood breakfasts" are intended to strengthen the cohesion and interaction of the neighborhood community. In addition, together with the stakeholders, further concepts are being sought to use the square in a sustainable way. Suitable formats can receive funding of up to €1,000. 

In addition to the neighborhood impulse, a total of €37,000 will also be available to the neighborhood in 2024 for further project ideas. The neighborhood budgets, which can be used for small-scale, cooperative measures that can be implemented in the short term, form the basis for further impetus in the neighborhood. Applications for this funding can be submitted directly via the neighborhood management.

The Kaiserstraße Central Neighborhood Conference also focused on creating a quality of stay for the shopping district. Following on from last year's "Jazzpiano To Go" project, pianos are to be set up again in Kaiserstraße for free music-making. From classical to pop to jazz, musicians of all ages, whether beginners or professionals, will once again be invited to enrich Karlsruhe's city center with music. Regional pianists will be performing at various locations at selected times.

Another idea is the implementation of a "Passage Festival". The specialist stores in the Kaiserpassage and stores in the surrounding area will present their wide range of offers. Shopping experiences, culinary delights and a program for the whole family are to be part of the new format.

The stakeholders in the district want to place particular emphasis on this year's Christmas season. Additional decorations, Christmas lights and Christmas street concerts are intended to create a harmonious shopping atmosphere.
