Wilma Wunder - the new restaurant in Karlsruhe
The special restaurant concept can now also be experienced in the heart of Karlsruhe's city center, directly on the market square
After cities such as Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Cologne and Mainz, Karlsruhe can now finally look forward to the "Wilma Wunder" restaurant. Directly on Karlsruhe's market square in the former premises of the Spanish restaurant Besitos - owner Mirko Knittel (who also opened the restaurant Burgerheart ) has conjured up a new place that will delight Karlsruhe. Wilma Wunder was officially welcomed to Karl-Friedrich-Straße 9 with a big, colorful and cheerful opening on June 16, 2023.
Wilma Wunder - reinterpreted classics for breakfast and lunch
As soon as you enter the restaurant, you are enchanted by Wilma's world: a large, bright bar (the "Wunderbar"), cozy velvet seating areas, dried flowers on the tables and indirect lighting create a homely atmosphere. You feel welcome and at home here!
Wilma's doors are open all day, so you can start the day with some real treats:
- Fried egg with grilled bacon and freshly baked bread
- Nordic smoked salmon, with a difference: with apricot and rosemary cream cheese and freshly grated horseradish
- Fluffy pancakes with fried egg, grilled bacon, berries, apple slices and maple syrup
- Creamy almond yoghurt with agave syrup, walnuts and fresh seasonal fruit. Served with beet hummus, coconut mousse and bread
Whether vegetarian, lactose-free or vegan - the people of Karlsruhe get their money's worth here. Above all, the new interpretations of breakfast classics, such as the "Stramme Wilma" as a counterpart to the "Stramme Max" - a croissant with fried eggs, cheese and ham - or "Eier Benedikt" as a new version in the Wilma style with fresh bread, creamy hollandaise sauce and two poached free-range eggs are a must-try!
It continues at lunchtime with a large selection of delicious delicaciesthat bring back childhood memories: Whether Wilma's Schäufele, Wiener Schnitzel, beef roulades, bread dumplings on wild mushroom cream or ham spaetzle.
Children are very welcome at Wilma Wunder in Karlsruhe
What particularly stands out at Wilma Wunder is the children's menu. From spaetzle with sauce (which is free for children up to the age of 4 in combination with a main course) and schnitzel (which is also available vegan) to free baby jars and the finest lemonades - the little ones are the biggest here. "We will also soon have a playground for our little guests in our beautiful outdoor area," reveals Mirko Knittel.

"That convinced us right from the start and our Wilma Wunder team lives by it every day," says Mirko. And you can feel it: whenever possible, the products are sourced from regional producers. For example, the quince liqueur comes from the Karlsruhe distillery Scriptorfrom the Barth family butchery, honey from Bees welove and wines from Oberkirch. The food is also calculated in such a way that little of it is left over. If this is the case, nothing is thrown away at Wilma, but is instead recycled via our partner "Too good to go" as a surprise bag.
