Small but nice, Südstern has been one of the most central bike stores in Karlsruhe for over 40 years and offers a selected range of bikes from different manufacturers, the right accessories and quick repairs.

Ali Abbasi is proud of the Südstern store, which he took over in June 2021 - and rightly so. Although Südstern is certainly the smallest bike store with a workshop in Karlsruhe city center, it is one of the most Rad und Tat the only ones that also offer folding bikes and can repair them directly on site. "We repair all manufacturers and types of bikes," explains Abbasi, "with the exception of cargo bikes, as these are very heavy and my space here in the workshop is limited. But we get all other bikes up and running again in no time at all, usually in about an hour," says the co-owner. However, it is mainly the folding bikes that stand out in Abbasi's range: "We have folding bikes from the Brompton brand and of course also offer the corresponding maintenance and repairs," he reveals. Folding bikes are very popular, as their special technology makes them very space-saving and perfect for commuters.

Anyone who visits the Südstern store in Erbprinzenstraße will be impressed by this bright and unusual store. "I don't have a lot of space here, so we've hung a lot of bikes on the ceiling and we also have to make do with the workshop here," explains Abbasi. The open workshop is the heart of the store and allows customers to watch their own bikes being repaired and maintained.
