We celebrated the big Wanderopening 2025 with a special day of action! Varied tours through green Karlsruhe awaited you - whether on the biodiversity trail in Grötzingen or on the AugenBlick-Runde Karlsruhe Rittnert, which opened in 2024.
All participants could look forward to an exclusive view from the renovated observation tower on the Turmberg, even before the official opening on June 13, 2025.
Saturday, May 17

Since the development of the AugenBlickRunde Karlsruhe Rittnert, the KTG has cooperated closely with the local Black Forest Association in Karlsruhe.
As a special hiking highlight, the Black Forest Association therefore invited visitors on May 17 under the motto "Biodiversity - diversity of the landscape and diversity of species". The title refers to the biodiversity trail in Grötzingen, which has information boards about the special features of the flora and fauna. At the beginning and end of the tour, on the way to Knittelberg and Turmberg, many places bore witness to the diversity of the natural and cultural landscape. At the end of the tour, participants had the opportunity to climb the newly restored tower before the official opening, and a final stop at the Schützenhaus restaurant on the Turmberg was optional.
The meeting point for the 11-kilometre tour was at 14:00 on 17 May at the Durlach-Turmberg bus stop. The Black Forest Association asked for registration by May 16 at the latest at the following e-mail address: info@schwarzwaldverein-karlsruhe.de.

An active start to the hiking season - with one of three varied hiking tours around Karlsruhe! As a special highlight, an exclusive view from the newly renovated tower on the Turmberg awaited you - even before the official opening on June 13.
Tour 1 - Sporty on the road
with Margarete Richter, passionate Nordic walker
Circular route approx. 10 km, duration approx. 2.5 hours
10:00 am: Meeting point at the welcome stand of KTG Karlsruhe Tourismus GmbH at the valley station of the Turmbergbahn in Durlach. There you received a small snack bag and a voucher for a non-alcoholic drink from the Hofbistro "Anders auf dem Turmberg" as a partner of the Wanderopening. We then set off via the Hexenstäffele. On the tour in the most beautiful surroundings, you received tips on how to support your normal walking movement by using poles. A break was taken at the so-called AugenBlick to enjoy the magnificent view. You were asked to bring your own walking poles.
Approx. 12:30 pm: End of the tour at the newly restored tower on the Turmberg. Optionally and exclusively, you had the opportunity to climb it before the official opening on June 13, 2025 and enjoy the magnificent view. Afterwards, you could refresh and fortify yourself in the "Anders auf dem Turmberg" farm bistro.
Tour 2 - Mindful on the road

10:30 am: Meeting point at the welcome stand of KTG Karlsruhe Tourismus GmbH at the valley station of the Turmbergbahn in Durlach. There you received a small snack bag as well as a voucher for a non-alcoholic drink from the Hofbistro "Anders auf dem Turmberg" as a partner of the Wanderopening. The start was then via the Hexenstäffele. Mind coach Alexandra Mayer took you on a mindful hike on the AugenBlick circuit. Together you explored lovely details, immersed yourselves in the atmosphere of the forest and experienced how mindfulness practice can bring our senses back into conscious enjoyment. You also took time for a tea ceremony and practised breathing and relaxation exercises and walking meditations. There was also time to enjoy the view at the so-called AugenBlick.

Tour 3 - Interesting facts along the way

14:00: Meeting point at the welcome stand of KTG Karlsruhe Tourismus GmbH at the valley station of the Turmbergbahn in Durlach. There you received a small snack bag and a voucher for a non-alcoholic drink from the Hofbistro "Anders auf dem Turmberg" as a partner of the Wanderopening. The start was then via the Hexenstäffele. Many beautiful moments awaited you on this relaxed hiking tour. On the way through the vineyards, fields and forest, there was always time for short breaks and stories from history. What time does the Turmberg date back to, who brought viticulture to Durlach, what about the storm Lothar ...? We haven't revealed everything here, as we wanted to keep it exciting. You can look forward to a varied tour through cultural and natural landscapes with wonderful panoramic views.
