History of the Dîner en Blanc
From a Parisian picnic event to a global trend in white!
A warm summer evening. A prominent public square. Hundreds or even thousands of people, all dressed in white, gather for an extraordinary dinner together in the open air. Welcome to the Dîner en Blanc!
From a spontaneous picnic in a Parisian park to a worldwide cult event
The dîner en blanc, also known as the white dinner, is known worldwide. It originated in Paris when François Pasquier spontaneously moved his overcrowded garden party to the nearby Bois de Boulogne in the summer of 1988. The unusual picnic became so popular as a dîner en blanc that people have been meeting up for dinner every June at famous Parisian locations such as the courtyard of the Louvre or the Avenue des Champs-Élysées ever since.
The dîner en blanc has long since conquered Germany too
Dîner en blanc has also found more and more fans in Germany. People in different cities come together to celebrate the stylish picnic as a white dinner. However, the special charm of the dîner en blanc lies in the non-commercial, self-organized version. It can be seen as the perfect weekend picnic.
Decentrally organized, kept secret for a long time and non-commercial - the Dîner en blanc is something special for all participants
At the dîner en blanc, participants meet spontaneously at a secret location that they find out about through friends, acquaintances or social networks. Everyone is dressed in white and brings their own tables and chairs. There is a delicious three-course menu, champagne and wine. At the long table, you can chat with others and share the culinary specialties you have brought with you.
