NYX - The light recorder
- an installation by Gijs van Bon

"Bahn frei!" meets SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE Light Festival
A long ribbon of light poetry - that's what NYX, the "light writer" from the Netherlands, created on three days in August in the train-free Kaiserstraße.
NYX writes its texts letter by letter in complete darkness with photoluminescent powder, which is energized by a lamp. Once on the floor, the glowing letters form words and the words form poetic texts.
The "light bearers" have a special role to play here. They continuously move along the written text to supply it with new energy and make it shine - the "light carriers" are therefore the second source of NYX magic.
The contrast between the glowing letters and the darkness of the night gives the audience a very special reading experience. The size of the text allows the audience to walk and read at the same time.

About the artist
NYX is an installation by Dutch artist Gijs van Bon. Van Bon's multidisciplinary objects and installations always move between theatrical and autonomous tension. He knows how to combine and dissolve the boundaries in between to create lively elements, powerful objects that often have a poetic and delicate content.
