Workshop at TanzAreal: Peripheral Vision
Dance improvisation with Miriam Markl and Amelia Eisen
Peripheral Vision is a transformative and holistic movement-based practice developed by Amelia Eisen and Miriam Markl in the stunning landscapes of Iceland. The method is both an artistic way of working and an invitation to self-awareness in all aspects of life. It provides a basis for creation and training in dance improvisation and guides creative processes for site-specific performances and aims to create experiences that broaden one's horizons. Peripheral Vision is always in a state of emergence, constantly evolving in a continuous research process.
During the workshop we will explore how landscapes inspire dance through movement and awareness training tasks, outdoors in nature, in public spaces and in the dance studio. How can the practice be used as a tool to illuminate the multi-layered experience of existence?
Amelia and Miriam began their research on Peripheral Vision in Iceland in March 2023 at SÍM Residency and continued their work in August at Dansverkstæðið. The practice combines Miriam and Amelia's artistic working methods and also incorporates elements from various dance improvisation techniques, Anna and Daria Halprin's Art/Life Process and holistic health coaching approaches.
