WAVING THE GUNS
special guest: Elektro Strothmann
At the Zenith - Tour
When Waving The Guns perform live, their lyrics range from deliberately blunt to relaxed and profound. A WTG show is never monotonous or arbitrary, but has its own musical and thematic dramaturgy. When it comes to live performance skills, they are second to none. Humor is always present, sometimes more subtle, sometimes less so. Comments and thoughts on current events are conveyed with a battle rap attitude, and even though their political stance is always clear, humor and entertainment always come first. Supposed boundaries are broken down when WTG unites its diverse audience in their enthusiasm for the band. No one should be too sure that they won't be the target of a dig, because crowd-pleasing here also includes tongue-in-cheek jibes. Everyone should let their guard down, but no one should become lazy in their thinking. In more than ten years, without sudden hype or musical flashes in the pan, the Rostock band has built up a stable fan base, and for quite a few people they play an important role in their musical and political socialization. Instead of resting on their laurels, they are constantly developing their own project organically, without wanting to do anything compulsively different. Down-to-earth without being stuck in the past, attitude and self-confidence without self-aggrandizement, eloquent criticism that doesn't stop at themselves, and a palpable love for their craft – WTG are the masked antithesis to the hubris of the fast-paced music business.
