Lecture by Magda Radu [EN] on the exhibition Stefan Bertalan: I lived with a sunflower for 130 days
In her lecture, Magda Radu looks at the neo-avant-garde scene in Romania in the 1970s and 1980s and discusses the issue of migration and its impact on artists from Central and Eastern Europe. Due to the economic, cultural and ideological challenges during the Cold War, many artists emigrated in search of different working conditions. Magda Radu also deals intensively with Stefan Bertalan and his works from this period.
Magda Radu is a curator and art historian in Bucharest. She is the founder and co-director of the independent art space Salonul de proiecte, whose program focuses on the production of new artworks, publications and discursive platforms.
