Vernissage of the exhibition "Jenny Schäfer - In Harmony"

Galerie & Kunsthandlung HESS is delighted to welcome the artist Jenny Schäfer in person on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 6.30 pm as part of an exclusive vernissage of the exhibition "Jenny Schäfer - In Harmony". She will be painting live on the evening of the opening and on the first day of the exhibition, allowing visitors to share in her unique working process, with unique works on canvas and paper ranging from figurative depictions, still lifes and landscapes to abstract compositions. What they all have in common is the special effect of the colors, which are in harmony with each other and with the forms. This creates a feeling of calm and balance when looking at them, which forms an antipole to the hectic everyday life of our time. The artworks can be seen up to and including November 16, 2019 as part of the exhibition "Jenny Schäfer - In Harmony" at Galerie & Kunsthandlung HESS. In her art, Jenny Schäfer combines painterly freedom and graphic sharpness to create her very own style of figurative and abstract painting. Jenny Schäfer is free in her art - free from the image of things. She does not paint through the imagination, but arrives at a harmonious combination of colors through feeling. She combines the ideal and the real, as well as fantasy and reason. Her aim in painting is to simplify things, to deal with color in a playful and uninhibited way - to begin experimentally - to confront herself with the color and thus to set herself in motion. The artist knows how to paint colors that resonate with each other; she expresses calm and harmony in her paintings. Jenny Schäfer's figurations clearly show the drawing style of the trained fashion designer. Loose and light, almost sketch-like, she composes her scenes, which never become concrete, but whose content must first be fathomed by the viewer. The figurative and abstract works thus create pictorial worlds full of associations in perfect harmony. Galerie & Kunsthandlung HESS can look back on over 40 years at the Kaiserstrasse / corner of Kronenstrasse. However, the history of the company goes back much further. Founded over 150 years ago as a bookbindery and handed down from generation to generation by Galerie & Kunsthandlung Hess owner: Barbara HessKaiserstr. 3676133 Karlsruhe, the name Hess is an institution in Karlsruhe. In addition to bookbinding, framing was added under the management of Dietrich Hess. Galerie HESS is one of the few galleries that still frames pictures in its own workshop in Sommerstraße. The range was gradually expanded to include works of art, home accessories and jewelry, and after the bookbinding business was discontinued, Galerie & Kunsthandlung HESS was established on Kaiserstrasse, which has been stocking contemporary art and matching frames under the management of Barbara Hess ever since.
