THE SUBWAYS
Special guests: THE RED FLAGS
THE SUBWAYS are still one of the most exciting live bands on tour, thrilling audiences with their explosive rock sound and wild stage performances. In 2005, at the average age of just 18, Billy, Charlotte and Josh conquered the international music scene with their debut album "YOUNG FOR ETERNITY" and their single "ROCK & ROLL QUEEN", which filled the rock clubs. The NME named it "the sexiest song to hit rock 'n' roll in years!". Appearances in the American teen hit "OC, California" and in Guy Ritchie's London gangster film "Rock'n'Rolla" have helped the song become a permanent fixture on the Spotify rock playlist. https://open.spotify.com/artist/4BntNFyiN3VGG4hhRRZt9d
The band has released four albums to date. Their second album "ALL OR NOTHING" (2008) was recorded with heavyweight producer Butch Vig in LA and is "carried by emotional depth and supernova guitar riffs, built on a maturing song craft" (MOJO). The tracks were written at a time when Billy was struggling to regain his voice following surgery to remove nodules from his vocal cords. "MONEY AND CELEBRITY" followed in 2011, full of "brilliantly anarchic punk-pop vignettes; each is a great musical finger-point at financial greed, the mediocre mainstream and fame fetishists" (ROCKSOUND) and included the Radio 1-listed A-list single "WE DON'T NEEED MONEY TO HAVE A GOOD TIME". For their self-titled fourth album, singer and songwriter Billy Lunn took on the role of producer. He handled the technical planning and mixing and, according to Q Magazine, is "on par with the best songs they've ever written ... and presents the band full of energy, focus and fighting spirit".
The Subways are firm favorites at summer festivals and have rocked the stages of over 100 international festivals during their career (including notably Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, Rock im Park, Rock am Ring, Hurricane, Southside and Rock en Seine), but whether in front of 200 or 250,000 people, the band always deliver a top-class, thoroughly entertaining set ...or as they say: "We rock until we drop, because for us there's nothing more exciting than being on tour. The best drug in the world is seeing people screaming along to the lyrics and dancing to the songs you've written. Being on stage every day playing rock 'n' roll, visiting new cities, new countries, new continents and making new friends along the way - it's the most incredible experience we've ever had!"
