In our digitally networked present, Jean-Remy's Talking Tubes (2020) demonstrate the simple power of direct dialog. Using metal, industrial waste and fire hoses, the artist creates an interactive acoustic installation with aphoristic dialogs.
Let's talk! Even today, dialog remains the quickest and easiest way to clarify a matter. It is the most important link in human relationships and therefore the mother of all forms of communication. Celebrating this mother with an interactive installation is the idea behind the Talking Tubes: two tubes exchange thoughts, profundity and nonsense alternate and externalities are left out. The spoken word counts! The Talking Tubes are never completed, but remain in motion: The "Talking" with ever-changing characters and content. The "Tubes" with further surprising constructions. Jean-Remy, born in Brussels in 1952, is one of the founders of the creative agency Jung von Matt, the only German agency to be repeatedly named the best independent in the world in Cannes. He is considered the creator of many campaigns that have achieved cult status and is both an honorary member of the Art Directors Club and a member of the Wirtschaftswoche Hall of Fame. After leaving the operative business, he began to realize concept art projects that had long been in the pipeline. The Talking Tubes are his first project to be shown in public.
