On Sunday, October 16, 2022, the Karlsruhe Seniors' Orchestra will give a charity concert at 5 p.m. in the Karlsburg Durlach as part of the "KONS-Spendensymphonie".
The Baden KONServatorium, the music school of the city of Karlsruhe, is moving into a new teaching building, the former dragoon barracks, in 2024. In order to fill the new and significantly larger concert hall with sufficient sound, the music school launched the "KONS-Spendensymphonie"campaign at the end of 2021
for the financing of a new concert grand piano. As part of the campaign, well-known artists and ensembles as well as the school's own teaching staff perform benefit concerts.
To the Karlsruhe Seniors' Orchestra
The Senior Citizens' Orchestra, which has been part of the Baden Conservatory since 2019, was founded 45 years ago. However, the name of the orchestra is deceptive, because - contrary to its name - not only senior citizens play in this orchestra, but also professionals and younger musicians in the family phase. Above all, however, music professionals and enthusiastic musicians from various professions. Since 2019, the orchestra has been led by conductor Ms. Ute Münchgesang.
To the program
You can expect a musical bouquet of classical music, opera, operetta, musicals, hits from the 1920s and film music. You will hear well-known melodies such as "Singin' in the Rain", "Over the Rainbow" and "Second Waltz" by Dimitri Shostakovitch.
