FameLab Talking Science: From the lab to the stage!
FameLab regional decision on March 29, 2023 at the Tollhaus cultural center
Who are the greatest talents in science communication? On March 29, it's that time again: the best young scientists will present their research in an exciting and entertaining way on the big stage at the Tollhaus cultural center in Karlsruhe.
In the international science communication competition FameLab, candidates have just 3 minutes to explain their research topic to the audience and a top-class jury. Factually correct, entertaining and engaging. Clichés about science have absolutely no place here! On the big stage, they get to the heart of their complex research topics in such a way that everyone really understands what it's all about.
So lengthy PowerPoint presentations are definitely not on the agenda at FameLab. Only things that can be worn on the body are allowed for illustration purposes. A lot of fun is pre-programmed.
Every year, impressive young scientists take to the stage at the FameLab regional finals throughout Germany. The best two participants in each of the preliminary rounds then take part in the big FameLab Germany final in Bielefeld, where they compete for the chance to represent Germany at the international FameLab final.
The event is organized by the Science Office of the City of Karlsruhe. FameLab is supported by the National Institute for Science Communication (NaWik), Vector Informatik and the Tollhaus cultural center.
Admission to the Tollhaus cultural center is free.
