MONIKA ROSCHER BIG BAND
The Monika Roscher Bigband returns to the concert stage with its wild reinterpretation of the classic jazz big band. On her new album, she manages a breathtaking balancing act between fragile inwardness and symphonic grandeur, between artpop, rock, electro and jazz. This is the sound of a band that loves adventure and is driven by an insatiable hunger for musical symbiosis, constantly surprising and reinventing itself.
The narrative compositions by big band leader and conductor Monika Roscher conjure up dreamlike landscapes, sometimes beguiling with their lyrical beauty, sometimes revealing dizzying abysses in a frenzied unleashing. The lyrics take you into nocturnal ocean sceneries, explore the border areas of human-technological interdependence or let you take part in a herb-fogged witches' sabbath. The collective of virtuoso individualists, which has grown together over many years, celebrates the full sonic power of a big band expanded with electronic elements in every conceivable color at each of its rousing live performances. This has taken them to the stages of the Elbphilharmonie, the Philharmonie Köln, the Fusion Festival, Jazzbaltica and the Zappanale, as well as to Salzburg, Prague and Istanbul.
Little Big Wonders - jazzy big formations with attitude is a concert series organized by the Jazzclub and TOLLHAUS, in which larger formations are presented in loose succession, which cause a sensation in the music scene through innovative concepts and committed projects.
