The MAPH Mask Theater presents one of its classics!
The play "Men's Dreams in the Green" is set in an allotment garden community. Two neighboring plots: one occupied by a "long-time resident," the other to be leased to a "newcomer," and the two find themselves face to face in a very confined space. The newcomer must settle into a foreign country without his family. The old-timer must learn to cope without his late wife. Initially put off by their differences, it takes a few rounds of leaf-raking before they begin to come together. And a pushy garden manager who needs to be kept in check.
The play explores what it means when people of different origins, backgrounds, and cultures come together, and demonstrates in a powerful and empathetic way how rapprochement and coexistence can still succeed.
