Jazz concert
Love & Peace" - Joachim Kühn New Trio with the Jazzclub Karlsruhe
Cultural Center Tollhaus Karlsruhe
Alter Schlachthof 35, 76131 Karlsruhe
Joachim Kühn is one of the few German world stars of jazz. With his playing, which transcends all categories, he has made a name for himself as a world-class musician. Pianist Joachim Kühn has already left his mark on contemporary jazz, and he has blazed new trails. Kühn, a musical cosmopolitan, sees himself in the tradition of jazz, as well as connected to European concert music, but in all of this directly committed to a sound language of the present. He reveals vehemence and sensitivity, virtuoso technique and imagination, an unmistakable touch and an unerring sense of dynamics. Throughout his life, Kühn demonstrated curiosity, openness and a love of experimentation like few others. Thanks to this intellectual agility, he came across jazz as a young classical pianist in the GDR; after fleeing to the West in 1966, he quickly became one of the most important representatives of the jazz avant-garde in the very different scenes of Paris, Los Angeles, New York and Hamburg; He constantly sought out encounters with the most diverse musicians from Michel Portal, Ornette Coleman, Archie Shepp, Jean-François Jenny-Clark to Daniel Humair, Joe Henderson, Michael Brecker, Rabih-Abou Khalil or the German Heinz Sauer and Michael Wollny. Together with Eric Schaefer and Chris Jennings, Joachim Kühn has formed the New Trio, bringing together old masters and young and wild musicians: powerful, clear and to the point, always firmly anchored in the groove. Full of unbridled joy of playing and with plenty of soul, freedom-loving and full of imagination.
