Let’s Talk About Law: An (In)dependent Judiciary – How Do We Protect Our Courts?
The issue at hand is the vulnerability of judicial independence. Guaranteeing judicial independence is a fundamental pillar of the rule of law, yet it is being called into question by sweeping reforms in some countries.
In a moderated discussion, Stefanie Otte, President of the Higher Regional Court of Celle, and Prof. Dr. Malte Graßhof,
President of the Constitutional Court of Baden-Württemberg and the
Administrative Court of Baden-Württemberg, take a look at the state of
the courts in Germany: What is the state of our judicial system? Where is it
under threat, and how can we protect it?
These and other compelling questions will be discussed in a joint
session. The audience is cordially invited to
join the discussion and contribute their own questions.
About the event series
Since 2025, the Forum Recht Foundation has regularly hosted the discussion series “Let’s Talk About Law” at its venues in Karlsruhe and Leipzig. The guests are prominent figures from various fields of law who discuss their daily work and share their perspectives on current legal issues: from labor law to tenancy law to freedom of speech. The discussions are recorded and subsequently published as a live-on-tape podcast.
