Lea Gocht. anhedonia II
In her exhibition "anhedonia II", artist Lea Gocht (*1995 in Weingarten) transforms the project space of the Städtische Galerie Karlsruhe into a walk-in collage full of absurd spatial experiences.Â
The artist Lea Gocht sews fabric cats from photographic fragments and uses them to stage a surreal scene: with distorted grins, the cats sit on stacked foam mattresses, surrounded by chickpea tins and a floor composed of countless photographs of asphalt. With surprising combinations of materials and ironic elements, the artist plays with opposites such as chaos and order, self-perception and escapism.Â
Â
In doing so, "anhedonia II " - named after the psychological term for the loss of the ability to feel joy - also poses fundamental questions: How does a society react to climate change, war and social inequality? What strategies do people develop to deal with the challenges of a world in permanent crisis mode? "anhedonia II" is a multi-layered, yet sarcastic commentary on the multiple crises of the present and their psychological and emotional effects on the individual.Â
