A musical evening with 56 women
Silent object of desire, courageous trouser role, radiant prima donna, saint or whore - the role of women in music has always been full of clichés. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Emanuel Schikaneder have the ruler Sarastro sing in their Magic Flute in 1791 that a man must lead the hearts of women, "for without him every woman is wont to step out of her sphere of activity". Over 200 years later, pop star Beyoncé wrote the song Run the World! (Girls). Time to take a stand!
The 27 ladies of the BADISCHEN STAATSOPERNCHORES, 27 Karlsruhe women, an opera singer and an actress make themselves the program. Professionals and amateurs focus together on women and role models and present a musical range from Minne to musical in a cross-disciplinary choral project between the opera, JUNGEM STAATSTHEATER and VOLKSTHEATER.
