Despite increasing digitalization, many parts of the industrial chain cannot be automated. This has resulted in a new division of labor - with the convenience of online services on the one hand and the exploitation of physical labor on the other. In many cases, there is a direct correlation to the speed and growth of image production. Images have also taken over in the social sphere. In the social sphere, medicine, the military or sport, people are forced to adopt new patterns of behavior. While the invisibility of processes behind the blockchain technology of artificially intelligent applications increases our dependence on the visible, houses in all areas are connected to the internet and children grow up in the presence of cameras.
"Image Dependency" attempts to uncover such new forms of visual dependency. In the field of image theory and visual culture studies,
the aim of the conference is to break new ground and derive recommendations for contemporary research and teaching from the results.
