Concert
Knut's Rhythm & Blues Circus - Jazz & Blues
Clear the ring for the blues: Knut's Rhythm & Blues Circus will be performing at the Mikado Cultural Center on March 28!
When Knut Maurer invites his "artists" into the ring, the audience can expect not just an ordinary concert, but a musical fireworks display without a safety net or double bottom.
For over 50 years, singer and pianist Knut Maurer has been synonymous with handmade blues that gets straight into your legs. Inspired by legends such as The Doors and Manfred Mann, the band celebrates a "musical-acrobatic" show that goes far beyond the classic 12-bar blues. The repertoire mixes dusty rhythm & blues with rock elements and soul jazz to create a rousing blend.
Â
Maurer is accompanied by a team of top-class musicians, including the well-known harp player Michael Heid, bassist Wolfgang Franz, and drummer Hans-Jürgen Götz. Together they create an atmosphere that is as dazzling and unpredictable as a circus performance—virtuoso, energetic, and guaranteed live. Â
The influence of Manfred Mann, the Doors, and the Animals can be heard in his virtuoso, slightly jazzy piano and organ playing. In addition to his own songs from his CDs, there are interpretations of jazzy and bluesy classics as well as songs by John Mayall, Chicken Shack, the Animals, etc.Â
