Johannes Mössinger New Quartet
Bandleader Johannes Mössinger is causing a sensation with his virtuoso piano playing as much as he is as a composer."His works clearly demonstrate how strongly he thinks free of clichés and develops a completely unique beat." Jazz'n'More, 11/2017. He recently celebrated great success with his album "New By Two" together with NY-based Joel Frahm on saxophone. In 2018, he released his very independent and contemporary recording of J.S. Bach's Inventions, underlining his exceptional talent and versatility on the piano.
He has worked with various formations and jazz greats such as: Joe Lovano, Bob Malach, Enrico Rava, Seamus Blake, Karl Latham and Boris Kozlov. The reviews are full of praise and enthusiasm for this artist, who has acquired a fascinating jazz style all of his own and is now presenting a new line-up in his ensemble.
In Adam Nussbaum, Mössinger has brought one of the most interesting US drummers on the jazz scene into his ensemble. The list of artists with whom he has performed corresponds to the "Who's Who" of the jazz world. His name is associated with international projects, e.g. with Michael & Randy Brecker, John Scofield, Kenny Wheeler, John Abercrombie, Seamus Blake and many more. As a drummer and bandleader, as a tireless initiator and inspirer, the New York City-born jazz musician has already written jazz history.
Andy Hunter, born in Michigan and an integral part of the New York scene, is now a member of the renowned WDR Bigband Cologne. He is an exceptional figure on the trombone and impresses with his virtuoso technique and musicality, working with the Mingus Big Band, Bob Mintzer, the Spanish Harlem Orchestra and many more.
Bassist Martin Gjakonowski is a well-known protagonist of the jazz scene, who can look back on many years of rich collaboration with musicians such as Bojan Z, Tony Lakatos, Charlie Mariano, Bob Berg, Dusko Goykovich, Anke Helfrich and many more.
The current sound of this quartet represents the powerful heartbeat of a modern, urban and generously conceived approach to jazz. At the center of the action are their own compositions, but also the virtuoso, stylistically confident and expressive skills of the four musicians.
