What limits us, what protects us? Where does technology expand our freedom, and where does it create new cages?
Based on THE CAGE, the city church becomes a sounding board for questions of identity, freedom, and responsibility in the technological age.Â
The expansive installation, consisting of hundreds of handmade birdcages, symbolizes the tensions of our present day: between protection and limitation, between belonging and exclusion, between progress and responsibility.
Constanze Scherz and Dana Mahr (Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis, KIT) provide impetus on topics such as AI chatbots, filter bubbles, neurodiversity, prosthetics, and transhumanism, and show how technology is changing our ideas about what it means to be human.
Afterwards, interactive stations invite visitors to engage in conversation: with people who talk about displacement, queer identity, disability, neurodiverse perspectives, or technological visions.Â
A "living statistic" reveals how differently we experience freedom, boundaries, and responsibility.
The event is intended to be a safe space.: respectful, dialogical, and open to different experiences. No one has to explain themselves; everyone is allowed to find their place.Â
