The Homegrown series presents regional musicians who transform their own stories into music.
The Franco-German pianist Antoine Spranger studied jazz piano in Mannheim after graduating from the Helmholtz-Gymnasium and successfully took part in international competitions. He has been playing with Parisian double bassist Matis Regnault, whom he met at the International Association of Schools of Jazz Meeting in Zagreb in 2019, for several years. The two were joined by German drummer Tobias Frohnhöfer, with whom Antoine has been playing in various bands for several years and has successfully taken part in international jazz competitions. saxophonist Ludovic Ernault, the trio recorded an album that was released in 2024 and whose music is the focus of this evening.
