The last Grand Duchess of Baden was very popular. To this day, schools and streets bear her name—even the cookies called “Hildabrötchen” were named after her. At the age of 20, she married Hereditary Grand Duke Friedrich of Baden. In 1952, Hilda died in Badenweiler at the age of 87—she was finally laid to rest in Karlsruhe in the Grand Ducal Burial Chapel. During the tour of the Upper Church and the crypt, guests learn more about the Grand Duchess’s life and legacy.
