Everything that flees will one day return to its origin. The mind embeds us in familiar emotions, in states we have already experienced, which we find difficult to let go of. Migration is always a decision—often influenced by external forces. But what does returning to one's roots mean? Is it a transcendental act, an expansion of consciousness, or merely a physical state?
Against the impressive backdrop of THE CAGE, the work of artist Farhar Al-Sahli, the performance by Balkiya Zhanburchinova and Edvin Spahic unfolds, making the ambiguity of migratory experiences tangible through dance. Through the characters Bulbul, Life, and Culture, the tensions and longings inherent in immigration become visible: What is left behind—and what is sought? Isn't it ultimately a deeply personal destiny, finely hatched like the strokes of a pen, that determines every movement, every pause, and every new beginning?
