Guided tour on the Waldensian Trail Palmbach
On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the first Waldensian church in Palmbach, the Waldensian Association Palmbach e.V. invites you to a guided tour along the Waldensian Trail.
The meeting point for this historical exploration is at Waldenserplatz in Talstraße.
The tour begins with the inauguration of the new signpost tree by the head of Wettersbach, Kerstin Tron. The new signs show the distances to historically significant Waldensian sites. The Waldensian Trail Palmbach, a cultural-historical theme trail, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
In May 1701, 324 years ago, the Waldensian refugees were settled in Grünwettersbach in what was then Württemberg and founded the Waldensian colony of Palmbach there a year later. During the guided tour, you will learn how the Waldensians came to this region and what challenges they had to overcome. We also provide information about the construction of the first church in 1725 during a guided tour of the church, which is integrated into the Waldensian Trail tour.
With the "Gate of Arrival" monument, the Waldensian Trail not only commemorates the founding of Palmbach, but also the persecution of the Waldensians, who were expelled from their homeland in what is now Piedmont because of their Protestant faith. This leisurely walk leads along well-maintained paths through the center of Palmbach. All areas of the Waldensian Trail, including the locations of the stelae and Waldensian Square as well as the Waldensian Church, are barrier-free.
Allow around 120 minutes for the tour, including the church tour. The Waldensian Trail with its 12 stelae and the Waldensian monument brings the eventful history of Palmbach to life and allows you to experience this unique regional history at first hand. Look forward to an informative and exciting historical tour that offers valuable insights into the history of Palmbach and the Waldensians.
We also cordially invite you to the parish festival of the Evangelical parish of Bergdörfer . The anniversary celebration of the first church building will take place in the courtyard of the Waldensian church.
