Guided tour on the Waldensian Trail
The Waldensian Association Palmbach e. V. invites you to a guided tour. It awaits you on the Waldensian Trail, with its 12 stelae and the Waldensian Monument.
A historical tour with historical data and information about Palmbach and the Waldensians.
324 years ago, on May 4, 1701, Waldensian refugees came to Grünwettersbach, then part of Württemberg, and founded the Waldensian colony of Palmbach there one year later. On this guided tour, you can learn how and why the Waldensians came to Grünwettersbach and how things continued during difficult times.Â
The Waldensian Trail is a cultural-historical themed trail approximately one kilometer long. Its Waldensian monument, "Gate of Arrival," commemorates the founding of Palmbach and the persecution of the Waldensians, who were expelled from their homeland because of their Protestant faith. This leisurely walk takes you along well-maintained paths through the center of Palmbach. All sections of the Waldensian Trail, the locations of the steles, and Waldensian Square are wheelchair accessible. You can plan on approximately 120 minutes of walking time, including the church tour.Â
Palmbach can be reached by public transport within 20 minutes from Karlsruhe main station forecourt on bus 47. Get off at the "Palmbach Kirche" stop.
New: The Waldensian Church is also open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for viewing, reflection, and prayer.
