fluppe @ Toujours Kultur Open Air
Joe Astray with his Hamburg indie rock band fluppe for the first time with us!
fluppe are exactly the stalk that has no business being in your front garden. The bird shit on your Volkswagen. fluppe have hooklines that take you by the hand and lead you around by the nose. Carnivorous sunflowers. Like trying to mask the smell of whiskey with cherry gum so you can keep your driver's license. fluppe. Lower case. In the beginning was the word, then it was really just a question of how best to mix old and new school British post-punk with American-style indie rock and put their own stamp on it, and then the first songs and the band were quickly on stage and in the studio. The band's rehearsal room in Hamburg's Billstedt district has - let's put it this way - character, as many a punk and indie classic has been created there (e.g. Tomte, Schrottgrenze) and the industrial backdrop there is as rough as it is unadulterated. Every now and then, producer Gregor Hennig (Vierkanttretlager, Die Sterne, Bela B., among others) pops in and listens to the songs that the band has come up with in order to develop them and record them at Studio Nord Bremen. The result is the Billstedt EP and the accompanying B-sides. The band has also completed the first recording sessions for a future album. When the virus isn't spreading, fluppe also like to fly out to play support shows, such as for LIFE, PaulsJets, Herrenmagazin, Trixsi, SWMRS, Rat Boy and others.
