Really good design must offer far more than just an attractive cover! Flawless function, self-explanatory handling, environmentally friendly materials and a high degree of innovation are just some of the criteria that play a role in the design. This is where the Design Center Baden-Württemberg's support comes in. It shows companies inexperienced in design how they can use design expertise to achieve success and uses examples from successful, renowned manufacturers to demonstrate that it works!

Companies with an affinity for design are given the opportunity to present themselves to a broad public free of charge at exhibitions, congresses, lecture events and interviews.

Award-winning companies and design agencies

The Design Center has been awarding the Baden-Württemberg FOCUS OPEN international design prize since 1991. Every year, it invites manufacturers and designers from around the world to enter their latest innovations into the race for the coveted FOCUS. You can marvel at the award-winning works 2021 here. All manufacturers represented in this exhibition consistently integrate design performance into their company and product development process, whether through an in-house design team or through partnerships with external design studios, some of which have been in place for decades.

30 years of the Baden-Württemberg International Design Award

In 30 years, the Baden-Württemberg International Design Award has established itself as a permanent fixture in the industry and has long been awarded annually under the compact label "Focus Open". The Design Center Baden-Württemberg celebrated this anniversary with a retrospective exhibition. Award-winning original products from each year were brought together.
