At a time when energy, climate, and sustainable action are key challenges facing our society, Karlsruhe is once again sending a clear message with its third Energy and Climate Festival (#ekfka2026). On Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Karlsruhe's market square will be transformed into a lively meeting place for inspiration, practical ideas, and civic engagement. Discover, inform, and participate: Under the unifying motto "Shaping Europe's energy transition regionally," the focus is on ideas, commitment, and joint action.
The festival also sets an example in terms of everyday life and lifestyle: Local initiatives provide an experience-oriented framework that makes climate and energy issues tangible. The focus is on the conscious use of resources and the exchange of perspectives on how each individual can contribute to the energy transition.
As the Energy and Climate Festival 2026 takes place on Europe Day, this year's motto is " Shaping Europe's energy transition at the regional level." At the same time, the City of Karlsruhe's Europe Day will take place on May 9, 2026, at the Karlsruhe market square. Under the motto "We make Europe," Europe activists from the city and region will organize a colorful participatory program around the EUROPE DIRECT Karlsruhe information stand and the MobiLab of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
