Exhibition of contemporary art "Drawing Rooms: Marcel von Eeden | Karl Hubbuch" at the Städtische Galerie Karlsruhe.
More than almost anyone else in contemporary art, Marcel van Eeden brings the medium of drawing up to date. On the basis of magazines, daily newspapers, books and catalogs, all of which were printed before his birth in 1965, he explores a time that took place without him. For the exhibition "Drawing Rooms", past and present enter into a dialog with each other. Marcel van Eeden (*1965) and Karl Hubbuch (1891-1979) - the Dutch contemporary artist and the German graphic artist of the Weimar Republic - meet in the medium of drawing. Around 100 years separate the artists, who were both appointed professors at the Karlsruhe Art Academy. The extensive collection of hand drawings and prints by Karl Hubbuch, whose estate was donated to the museum in 2020, forms an essential basis for the exhibition.
